Cookies we set
Three groups cover the whole site. Necessary cookies keep the visit stable. Preference cookies store small reading settings if you allow them. Analytics cookies, if you allow them, count page opens in aggregate so we can see whether a chapter is hard to find. None of them build an advertising profile.
Necessary
Session and your answer
These files let pages load in order, keep a form from losing its place, and remember whether you have already closed the cookie bar. Without them the public text still appears, yet your choice would be asked again on every visit. We do not use this group to rank you, and we do not sell the values they hold.
Lifetime: session to 1 year
Preference
Place in a chapter
If you allow preference cookies, we store small settings such as the last sample chapter you opened. They make a return visit less repetitive. They stay until they expire or you clear this site in your browser. You can refuse them and still read every public page, hear the sample, and send a message to the desk.
Lifetime: up to 90 days
Analytics
Which pages were opened
Optional analytics cookies, when you agree, record which public pages were opened, in aggregate. We use that to see whether a chapter page is buried. We do not pass these hits to advertising networks. If you refuse, we simply do not set them. Membership billing, postage and cancellation keep working either way.
Lifetime: up to 6 months
